I just spent the day with my son, brother and dad walking around the Wright Patterson Air Force Museum. It was a great time seeing all of the airplanes and reading the stories of heroes that sacrificed everything so others could live. A lot of these folks gave everything so that others would experience a better life. When I walked around, it reminded me of the passage of Scripture found in John 15:12-13, '12 My command is this: Love each other as I have loved you. 13 Greater love has no one than this: to lay down one’s life for one’s friends.
In spite of our sin against God, He still chose to love us enough to send us His son to take our sin punishment so we can live. Jesus willingly laid down His life for you and me. Jesus in John 15, is sharing a command that illustrates what He is going to do. He would be laying down His life so that all could live. Jesus was willingly giving the ultimate sacrifice by taking the sins of the world onto His shoulders and paying the price on the cross so that you and I will be able to have the opportunity for forgiveness and eternal life with Him. God offers that same gift to all of us, all we have to do is receive the gift. As a follower of Christ then we have the command to show His love by loving each other so people can see Christ's love for us. Our job is to point people to the One that gave it all so we can have life!
May we at Easter pause to remember how much God loves us and then go forth and show that love by living it out to a world that desperately needs to see God's love!
